Welcome to the Lakes of South Shore Harbour Homeowners Association. Our Association wants to help your voice be heard. Our community website serves as an information center for our neighborhood and our local community. Together, you and The Lakes of South Shore Harbour Homeowners Association can do what an individual homeowner can't always do. When you come to us for help, we can put the strength of the Lakes of South Shore Harbour Homeowners Association to work for you. Together, we provide a unified and respected front at City Hall, utilities companies, and developers. We know which meetings to attend, when to write letters (and more importantly, where to send them), and what to say to whom. Our Association is far stronger than any homeowner acting individually. We work to build community!

December 10 : Pictures with Santa (2:00-4:00 p.m.)   Refreshments and Crafts for the Kids

Once again, The Lakes will be offering pictures with Santa Claus this year at the pool/recreation center.  Please bring the kids out on Saturday, December 10th between 2pm and 4pm.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting and taking photos with the kids.

We will have refreshments and crafts for the kids.  We look forward to seeing you there!

December 10 : Christmas Fire Truck Parade (4:00-6:00 p.m.)   Immediately Following Pictures

Our annual Christmas Fire Truck Parade will begin at 4pm immediately after photos with Santa.  As in the past, the League City Fire Department has graciously agreed to allow Santa to ride throughout the neighborhood on their fire truck and pass out candy to all the children.

Please be on the lookout for the fire truck.  Due to cars being parked on the street and the difficulty of maneuvering the fire truck in the cul-de-sacs Santa may not be able to drive down every street.  If this is the case, the truck will stop on the nearest corner and sound their sirens to give the kids enough time to reach the truck and see Santa.

December 18 : Christmas Light Decorating Contest

The Lakes will once again be hosting a Christmas Lights Decorating Contest.  This year there will only be one category – Best Lights.  We will award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  Winners will be given gift cards as follows: 1st Place - $150.00, 2nd Place - $75.00 and 3rd Place $50.00.  All winners will be recognized in the next newsletter and will have recognition signs placed in their yards.

Judging will take place on the evening of December 18th.  As always, the board looks forward to driving around to see everyone’s lights and decorations.

If you want to play tennis, please contact Patricia Ortiz at HCM. Her phone number is 832-660-0700.  The Tennis Court is locked and homeowners need to click on forms or contact Patricia Ortiz for a form. Patricia will have keys to the lock and any resident who wants to play, will be asked to put up a $10.00 deposit, which will be refunded when you turn the key back into TCM. Residents can either come by the office and bring a $10.00 check along with the form to receive a key or they can mail it. This action is taking place to preserve the courts for tennis players and to protect the courts from other activities that could cause damage and resurfacing.

Drought Contingency Plan - League City

As of July 27, 2011

LEAGUE CITY REMOVES MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTIONS AND ENCOURAGES VOLUNTARY WATER RATIONING

Thanks to cooperation of citizens and businesses during mandatory water rationing, and recent rainfall, the City is now enacting stage one of the Drought Contingency Plan (Ordinance No. 2002-26). This stage calls for voluntary water conservation and requests that residents and businesses adhere to the following water restrictions:

  • Irrigation of landscaped areas and lawns should be done during the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for water customers with even-numbered addresses and Mondays and Wednesdays for customers with odd-numbered addresses.
  • The City asks that residents and businesses re-direct all sprinkler heads to spray only on grassed or landscaped areas not on sidewalks or streets.
  • All City operations shall adhere to these water use restrictions prescribed in Stage 2 of the Drought Contingency Plan. The City will reduce the flushing of water mains and hydrants.
  • Use of water for washing cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles or other vehicles is discouraged, except on designated days and times.
  • Use of water to wash down sidewalks, driveways, decks, parking lots, or any other hard surface area is discouraged.
  • Use of water to wash down buildings or structures for the purpose other than immediate fire protection is discouraged.
  • Flushing of gutters or permitting water to run or accumulate in gutters, curbs or streets from a hose or irrigation system is discouraged.
  • Use of potable water in amenity ponds, fountains or other scenic purposes is discouraged.
  • Resident and businesses are asked to reduce the filling of swimming pools, Jacuzzi-type spas and other outdoor water uses except during the off peak hours of use identified for irrigation above.
  • Report all leaks immediately to 311 during normal business hours or 281-554-1390 after-hours, so City staff can make necessary repairs promptly.

The City was most recently on stage two of the Drought Contingency Plan and implemented stage three of the plan earlier this summer.  Both stages called for mandatory rationing with fines for those who did not comply with the restrictions.

"Our citizens have been very responsive to mandatory rationing guidelines. We thank them for their efforts and ask that they continue those conservation efforts even in this voluntary stage. Water is still a precious resource in League City and if usage levels increase we may be forced to go back to mandatory rationing " said Rich Oller, Acting City Manager.

Please Consider Our Advertisers
This is just a reminder that our monthly newsletter does not cost The Lake any money to publish. That cost is absorbed by the advertisers and we ask you to please consider giving your business to them if possible. This will especially apply to Amoco Federal Credit Union and Kroger as they committed to 6 months each of the back cover. I like to give the advertisers a better shot at our business than the people that continue to stuff our door knobs with flyers. Thank you!
